MS Word is literally eating though my thesis. I have plenty of backups, but I am not happy about the whole thing. I would think I’m having a font conflict, except that my only fonts are the standard OS X install and the Office font pack. Maybe there is an issue between my french Office and my primarly english OS X.

But I suspect the mini MS world on my machine: now IE won’t launch. Anyways, this little break will give me a change to run a couple updates which insists asking for a reboot.

New MT extension thingie

Most normal, mentally stable individuals do not take notice of proper typographic punctuation. Many design and typography nerds, however, break out in a nasty rash when they encounter, say, a restaurant sign that uses a straight apostrophe to spell “Joe’s”.

Who said I was normal? I’m installing this… Now I wonder if it will deal correctly with the french style «guillemets»

Il y a eu cette étude qui a fait remuer pas mal d’électrons a propos de la crédibilité des informations sur le Web.

Je fréquente personnellement pas mal les sites de « comparison-shopping » mais peu ceux offrant des informations médicales ou financières. J’ai le réflexe de toujours chercher un second quand ce n’est pas un troisième avis. En somme, l’Internet n’est pas vraiment différent de la presse écrite dans le fond…
Mais moi, suis-je crédible? Aie-je besoin de l’être dans la mesure où je ne fais le plus souvent que renvoyer vers d’autres ressources (et hormis le fait que je n’aie rien à vendre)? Dois-je faire une déclaration de mes intérêts personnels qui teintent mon objectivité? Dois-je tendre à l’objectivité? (viam objectivitis elegi?).

Je crois que non. Ce serait nettement moins drôle pour tout le monde. Mes intérêts sont assez inoffensifs et transparaissent de manière assez claire pour que je me sente à l’aise avec ça.

Bon.. je pense que j’ai besoin d’une tasse de thé. Lapsang Souchong ou thé vert?

Dans la continuité de mes interrogations sur les motivations à carnetter, j’attire votre attention sur un billet commit par la Grande Rousse qui culmine par une description du cybernarcissisme…

Sa prose sympatique est d’ailleurs un constant rappel que a) je ne rédige définitement plus assez et b) je devrais bien réfléchir avant de me décider définitivement à pratiquer mon anglais ici.

I’m wondering where to take this thing, this so called weblog. I never wanted a « this is my dog and here’s a link to my favorite band » homepage, but I like the idea of the knowledge processing and aggregation that goes on all over with weblogs, klogs, whatever is the neologism of the month.

So at this point I have a few questions I need to answer:

Should I stop this experiment or keep going?
Should I get a domain and host or stick with artisanal hosting?
Should I use a pseudonym or use my real name?
Sould I do a one man blog or aim for a me and friends deal?
Should I write in english or in français?
Should I focus on law and IT and generally « serious » issues or post anything that interests me?
Stick with MovableType or go with Radio?

Any suggestions would be more than welcome. Yes that means you.

Je souscris particulièrement à celle qui fait l’analogie avec les contrôleurs aériens :

Par exemple, cette entrée me sert à publier quelque part ce lien sur les contrôleurs aériens, le désordre ordonné et l’organisation, que je me rappelle avoir déjà lu il y a quelques années (et qui doit être quelque part introuvable et inutile dans mes fichiers de signets/favoris) et qui vient de me retomber sous la main. Cette fois, je ne le laisserai pas s’échapper.

J’ai été offline pendant quelques jours. J’ai eu un problème avec MovableType où je ne pouvais plus poster de nouveaux items. Après plusieurs tentatives de troubleshooting, j’ai du donner un coup de pied dans le bon pneu, parce tout semble revenu a la normale. Je n’ai cependant aucune idée de ce qui a pu se causer le bobo.

De retour a notre programmation régulière.

Et ça marche pour les streams aussi.

Tout en écrivant j’écoutais Jean Leloup et la Sale Affaire‘s « Barcelone » [2:47] from L’amour est sans pitié (1999). Pop perhaps?

Le premier essai aurait été évité si j’avais pas présupposé que Kung-log parsait les arguments au moment de poster: il y avait un menu et un dialogue de prefs que j’avais ignoré dans mon empressement à essayer un nouveau gugusse. C’est un peu moins élégant, mais au fond très simple et.. bref.. voilà. Inutile en somme. Vive Applescript.
